New 49ers Stadium to Get Mixed-Use Development Neighbor

New, 3 comments

Seeking to cash in on the expected success of the 49ers new home, a development group led by Montana Property Group (yes, that Montana) has been proposed across from the under construction Levi Stadium. The plan calls for a mixed-use development featuring hotel, office and entertainment facilities dubbed Santa Clara Centennial Gateway.

The $400 million dollar proposal calls for the development of a 125-room hotel and a 200-room hotel, 2 office buildings with 240,000 sq. ft. each and "up to 150,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space with active public outdoor plazas." 2,500 parking spaces will be available in 2 parking structures, and the site will be served by at least 3 public transportation options: VTA light rail, Amtrak and ACE regional rail.

Montana Property Group, in conjunction with Lowe Enterprises, has entered into "an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement" with The City of Santa Clara. The developers are hoping to break ground by next summer, and have the first phase of the project, including the first hotel, completed in time for Super Bowl 50 in February 2016.
