Denver International Airport has hired Darryl Jones, a real estate developer and former city planner, as its chief real estate officer.
Jones, a Greenwood Village city councilman, will oversee the airport’s real estate expansion on 17,000 developable acres, including the neighboring transit-oriented developments at the 61st and Pena and Gateway Park rail stops, officials said.
Jones, who was selected after a nationwide search, will start June 27. His salary will be $203,940, said DIA spokesman Heath Montgomery.
“His knowledge of the region and experience with large real estate projects will enhance the ability for Darryl to lead our efforts to optimize the revenue potential of airport property, collaborate with our adjacent municipalities and property owners to assure efficient infrastructure investments and coordinated land uses, and to stimulate regional economic development,” Kim Day, the airport’s CEO, said in a statement.
Jones is vice president and development manager for Coventry Development Corp., the developer of RidgeGate in Lone Tree. Previously he was director of planning and government affairs for Oakwood Homes and planning manager for Greenwood Village’s community development department.
Before moving to Colorado, Jones worked on planning and zoning for the cities of Boston; Santa Cruz, Calif.; Campbell, Calif.; and Mountain View, Calif., according to DIA.
